It looks like this could be the end of the absurd trend involving fly agarics. State services have taken up the matter. As reported by tvn24.pl:
Trading in products containing fly agaric could result in a fine of up to one million zlotys. They will be treated like drugs or legal highs.
This is because the internet is teeming with offers for products made from this mushroom, allegedly promoting health. The portal tvn24.pl:
– Advertisements are appearing on social media – notes Maciej Krzak, a senior specialist with the State Forest Service at the Bolesławiec Forest District. – They are offered to people with skin conditions, such as cellulite – describes Prof. Paweł Ramos, a pharmaceutical analytics specialist from the Medical University of Silesia.
Experts from the Ministry of Health and the sanitary authorities examined the fly agaric. The result? Two psychoactive substances were found in it. The Chief Sanitary Inspector announces that offers for products made from this mushroom will be removed from the internet.
What is more, as the nationwide outlet adds:
At the beginning of next year, substances from the fly agaric will be added to the ministerial list. They will then be treated as a drug or legal high.
This means that fly agaric sellers could then, just like drug dealers, go to prison for their activities.
