The fact that the swans from the municipal pond in Bolesławiec like to go for walks has been reported to us by readers. The birds often leave the pond and can be seen on sidewalks and lawns, where they eagerly nibble at the grass. After their walk, they return to the pond area. The birds are not aggressive and do not attack people. Instead, they attract the interest of passers-by, especially children.

However, we ask parents not to allow their children to approach the birds too closely. Although the Bolesławiec swans are partly accustomed to people, if they feel threatened, they may peck or strike with a wing. Given the bird’s size and strength, this could be very dangerous for a child.

Take a look at one of these walks by the beautiful birds:

Please do not feed the birds bread!

Taking this opportunity, once again we appeal, remind and ask you not to feed the birds bread. This food is unhealthy for them and can cause various digestive-system diseases, as well as so-called angel wing syndrome. In extreme cases, it can also cause a bird’s death. The same applies to feeding them all kinds of biscuits, crisps, chips, and so on.

If, while in the area of the municipal pond in Bolesławiec, we want to give the birds something healthy to eat, it is best to use the duck food dispenser located by the pond. You can also buy special, healthy food at pet shops. An information board was recently installed by the municipal pond, explaining what to feed waterfowl.
