During their night shift, police officers stopped a Mercedes Vito for a roadside check. During the inspection, they noticed that both the driver and the passenger were nervous.

– Although a police check itself may cause concern for someone who rarely comes into contact with police officers, the two men were clearly afraid of something. – says asp. szt. Justyna Bujakiewicz-Rodzeń, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lubań.

The result? The officers checked the driver's details and discovered that he was subject to a driving ban. Moreover, it turned out that the 37-year-old had got behind the wheel under the influence of intoxicating substances. The spokesperson said: – The man was detained and taken to hospital, where blood was drawn from him for tests to determine whether prohibited substances were present in his system.

A 36-year-old passenger was also sitting in the car. During the identity check, he repeatedly provided false personal details. Aspirant szt. J. Bujakiewicz-Rodzeń:

Refusing to disclose his identity, he became aggressive toward the police officers. To establish the facts and the passenger's identity, the man was detained. It turned out that the 36-year-old passenger was also wanted by the court to serve a six-month prison sentence. He was detained and placed in a police facility.

The 37-year-old faces up to five years in prison.
