On Saturday, the SP42-001 locomotive, together with carriages put into service in 1928–1930, will first head to Oława and then return to Wrocław, where it will travel, among other places, along sections of railway lines not normally used for passenger traffic.

– This is an amazing opportunity to see Wrocław, for example, from the perspective of the freight bypass, which is used on a daily basis exclusively by freight trains, allowing them to bypass Wrocław Główny station – says Michał Wychodil, press spokesperson for the Railway Enthusiasts’ Club in Wrocław.

During the ride, KSK’s press spokesperson in Wrocław, Michał Wychodil – also an experienced guide – talks about interesting facts related to the history of railways, as well as the history of the places visible from the windows of the historic carriages.

The train route is divided into two separate events: exploring the railway’s hidden corners in northern Wrocław (Wrocław Główny – Wrocław Nadodrze – Wrocław Osobowice – Wrocław Główny), as well as a ride along the freight bypass (Wrocław Główny – Wrocław Kuźniki – Siechnice – Brochów – Wrocław Główny). The train to Osobowice will depart at 11:10, while the ride along the freight bypass will begin at 14:32.

– We have been cooperating with the Railway Enthusiasts’ Club in Wrocław for several months, so these trains will be announced at stations as Koleje Dolnośląskie trains. However, tickets for these special rides can be purchased from our friends at KSK in Wrocław. We encourage you to do so, because these railway enthusiasts use the ticket proceeds to repair old locomotives and carriages – says Bartłomiej Rodak, press spokesperson for Koleje Dolnośląskie.

A detailed description of the entire event can be found on the website of the Railway Enthusiasts’ Club in Wrocław or on the association’s social media profile. Tickets can be purchased on the association’s website or from the train crew. The historic train consist will be announced at stations as a Koleje Dolnośląskie train.
