As reported by the Bolesławiec Municipal Police:

Regulations authorize a municipal police officer to verify the data contained in a declaration concerning the number of declared persons against the actual situation. It should be emphasized that a municipal police officer performs official duties exclusively in uniform and always carries an official ID and authorization to conduct inspections issued by the Mayor of Bolesławiec.

The department also adds:

We inform you that, in case of doubts regarding the identity of the person conducting the inspection, it is possible to verify it with the duty officer of the Bolesławiec Municipal Police at the following telephone number: 75 644 79 90.

Furthermore, we point out that property owners are obliged to allow the municipal police officer to conduct an inspection and to provide all necessary data requested by the officer during the inspection, including personal data.

What are the results of the inspections?

Last month, officers “found discrepancies between the number of people actually residing at a given property and the number indicated in the submitted declaration, which ultimately led to the identification of 42 people not registered in the waste management system.” The uniformed officers said: – As a result, the waste management fees paid by these owners were understated, while the costs of waste collection were borne by the other residents of the respective multi-unit building.

What should be done in such a case?

In such cases, a new declaration must be submitted, with the fee at the revised amount payable for the month in which the change occurred.

Municipal Police: – This obligation follows from Article 6m, paragraphs 1 and 2, of the Act of 13 September 1996 on maintaining cleanliness and order in municipalities. Failure to fulfill it constitutes a petty offense for which a municipal police officer may impose a fine of up to PLN 500 or submit a motion for punishment to the court.
