Police received a report of human remains found on Śluzowa Street in Bolesławiec on Saturday afternoon (15 January). It has since been established that they belonged to a forty-year-old man who had died approximately a year earlier. The skeleton was well preserved. No fractures or other mechanical damage were found. The remains were not all in one place, which, according to the prosecutor’s office, may indicate that animals dug them up and moved them. Police have launched investigative efforts. Genetic tests will be carried out. The prosecutor’s office may commission a reconstruction of the deceased man’s appearance.
“We suspect that this was a homeless person who died of natural causes, as a result of taking toxic substances, or from hypothermia,” prosecutor Adam Zieliński says. “This is indicated, among other things, by the absence of mechanical injuries to the bones.”
After examination, the man’s remains will be transported to Bolesławiec and buried at the state’s expense.
