The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 22, before 4 p.m. – District officers from the District Police Headquarters in Lubin were carrying out duties in Lubin municipality. While driving a police car, they witnessed the unusual behavior of a woman driving a Volkswagen – reports Senior Aspirant Aleksandra Pieprzycka from the Press Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – Seeing a police car approaching her from the opposite direction, the woman suddenly stopped her vehicle, jumped out and disappeared into the bushes by the road.

She adds: – The police officers immediately jumped out of the patrol car, suspecting that the woman had something to hide.

The 27-year-old resident of Środa Śląska explained to the officers that she had panicked at the sight of them because she did not have a driving licence. It soon emerged, however, that she was subject to two bans on driving motor vehicles issued by a court in Legnica.

That was not all. The spokesperson said: – The district officers smelled alcohol on her, so they checked her sobriety. The breathalyser showed that the woman had nearly 0.5 per mille of alcohol in her system.

What is more, the car she was driving had two different registration plates, one of which was listed in information systems as lost due to theft.

The result? The 27-year-old ended up in a police cell. She now faces up to five years behind bars.
