As we read on the social media profile of Joanna Świder:
The water has receded, giving us a moment to catch our breath and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the invaluable help we received from you!
You gave so much of yourselves to save what enables us to live our daily lives that I am almost lost for words... I saw with my own eyes how much strength and perseverance you put into all this.
Throughout last week, day and night, Municipal Office employees monitored the condition of the rivers. They analysed and coordinated preparations and drove almost 600 kilometres while patrolling the municipality. Even last night, they worked on preparing applications to institutions to obtain funds for residents to repair flooded properties and rebuild municipal infrastructure.
Employees of the Municipal Social Welfare Centre assessed residents’ needs in the field. The Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters, Municipal Police and Military Police secured the flooded areas.
Excellent cooperation with Bolesławiec County and Tomasz Gabrysiak, Bolesławiec County Head, with whom I was in direct contact. Before, during and even now, I can count on his help.
Lubań County Office, Zbigniew Zjawin, who kept us informed about the situation in Lubań County on an ongoing basis, allowing us to understand what could happen in our area and respond appropriately.
The excellent exchange of information and reposting it, in order to reach more residents through news portals from our area (...) all of this helped in this difficult situation.
And she adds:
Thank you to:
- Private companies from SSEMP Wykroty for the help they offered.
- SKŁAD OPAŁU PHU Skrzypek Kamil Skrzypczyński, who delivered sand free of charge throughout the night to areas at risk.
- The employees of Hydro-Tech and Meliobud for their help and for making equipment available to secure closed roads.
- Mr Sławek Sobucki from RoboKop – earthworks Sławek Sobucki, who worked wonders with an excavator to limit the inflow of water.
- The employees of the Gminne Centrum Kultury i Sportu w Nowogrodźcu for securing equipment and cleaning up the municipal stadium.
- The Bolesławiec County Headquarters of the State Fire Service for coordinating operations.
- Mr Marcin Wróbel for the drone footage, which will help us analyse the threat in depth in the future.
- Osada Leśnego Dziada for offering to make its accommodation available to evacuated residents.
And she emphasises:
The most important, however, were the residents who responded to the request for help without hesitation. The undisputed leader among these residents was Ewelina Szewczyk, village head of Parzyce, and the village council, which also prepared hot meals to feed everyone.Special thanks to the Volunteer Fire Brigades, which took care of our safety day and night. They took the initiative to hold shifts in their fire stations and were always where they were needed. Your creativity is invaluable in some cases; it is not without reason that people say that the Municipality and City of Nowogrodziec stands on its Volunteer Fire Brigades. You are our showcase throughout the country.
There are no words that can express the gratitude I feel... THANK YOU!
And she adds: – As you can see, so many people and so much effort were involved so that you could sleep safely. These are the quiet heroes; their work was seen by the people who were there. They were involved in protecting all of us, the residents of the Municipality and City of Nowogrodziec. If I have left anyone out, I apologise, but I will certainly thank each of these people personally.
