On Wednesday, January 12, the district stage of the “Getting to Know Our Homeland” sightseeing competition was summarized in the conference room of the Bolesławiec District Office. Twenty-seven entries were submitted for the eighth edition of the competition.
In the category of primary schools—individual entries, no first place was awarded. The second prize went to Zuzanna Woźnica of Primary School No. 1 in Bolesławiec for “The History of My Family, Traditions and Customs.” The third prize went to Dagmara Parchimowicz (Primary School No. 1). The jury (comprising Marta Satoła, Andrzej Olejniczak and Czesław Szmelter) also awarded two honorable mentions. They went to: Weronika Junak of the primary school in Nowogrodziec (for “The History of the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Nowogrodziec”) and Paulina Owerko of Primary School No. 5 (for “The History of My Homeland, Historic Sites and Places of Remembrance”).
In the category of primary schools—team entries, Jakub and Patryk Patreuh of Primary School No. 1 received an honorable mention (for “The History of Our Family”).
In the category of lower-secondary schools—individual entries, the winner was Marta Parada of Municipal Lower-Secondary School No. 2 in Bolesławiec (for “Along the Way of St. James through the Bolesławiec Region”). Second place went to Marek Drąg of the lower-secondary school in Nowogrodziec (for “Saint Hedwig of Silesia as the Patron Saint of Nowogrodziec”). The third prize went to Monika Naspińska of Lower-Secondary School No. 3 for “The History of the Church and Parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Bolesławiec.”)
In the category of upper-secondary schools—team entries, the first prize went to Karolina Janiec and Iwona Flanc of the 2nd General Secondary School (for “On a Bicycle Trail”). In the multimedia-entries category, the third prize went to Monika Marusiak of Primary School No. 1 (for “My Favorite Tourist and Sightseeing Trails”), while honorable mentions went to: Karolina Filistyńska of Lower-Secondary School No. 2 (for “My School, Its History and Traditions”) and Katarzyna and Dawid Strojek of Primary School No. 1 (for “The History of My Family, Traditions and Customs”).
The competition committee also awarded a prize for perseverance. Its recipient was Adrian Drąg of the 2nd General Secondary School, author of “At Joseph Ignatz Schnabel’s in Nowogrodziec.” The winner also received a gold medal for perseverance (the bronze medal in this category went to Marek Drąg).
The following entries qualified for the provincial stage: those by Adrian Drąg, Marek Drąg, Karolina Janiec and Iwona Flanc, Marta Parada, and Zuzanna Woźnica. This stage will be summarized in March this year in Lubin.
The competition was organized by the District Office, the Bolesławiec branch of the Polish Youth Hostels Association, and the Museum of Ceramics.
