The District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra has launched an investigation into the breaching, on 15 September 2024 in Jelenia Góra–Cieplice, of flood embankments by excavating—with the use of an excavator—a passage through the flood embankment, which created a direct danger of flooding Sobieszowska Street and the nearby buildings. In other words, into causing a direct danger of such an incident.
– Currently, officers of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra, under the supervision of the prosecutor, are examining the site where the embankment was breached and identifying witnesses to the incident – reports prosecutor Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska, press spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra.
The offence is punishable by up to 8 years in prison.
