On Tuesday, September 10, at around 7:00 p.m., in Klecza, a police patrol noticed a Mercedes Vito traveling without its lights on. The officers decided to stop the vehicle for an inspection. Initially, the inspection proceeded normally.

– The driver, Piotr K., turned off the car’s engine and handed the police officer the requested documents. However, after a moment, wanting to avoid further inspection, he started the vehicle and drove off, hitting the police officer, who fell to the ground and suffered general bruising – prosecutor Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska, spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra, told lwowecki.info.

The officers began a chase. To force the fleeing driver to stop, a policewoman used her firearm. The bullet hit one of the car’s tires. Despite this, the 39-year-old did not stop the vehicle. As lwowecki.info reports, the man turned onto a dirt road near Golejów, then abandoned the car and fled into the forest. He was arrested today (September 11) by police officers from Lwówek. A zip-lock bag containing methamphetamine was found in the abandoned car.

The arrested man, a resident of Jelenia Góra, had been convicted multiple times in the past. He was also wanted to serve a prison sentence for theft. For hitting a police officer in order to force him to discontinue the inspection, fleeing the scene of the inspection and possessing drugs, he faces up to 5 years in prison.
