On 21 August this year, at approximately 3:30 a.m., officers from the Municipal Police Headquarters were informed of a fire in a garage connected to a residential building in Legnica. – During the fire, five people left the building on their own. Two people who were on the balcony were evacuated by firefighters – reports Police Commissioner Jagoda Ekiert, press officer of the Legnica Municipal Police Headquarters. – Fortunately, none of these people suffered bodily injuries.

She adds:

The 35-year-old was immediately suspected of arson, as he had repeatedly threatened his parents that he would burn them. The man was subject to a court order prohibiting him from approaching them.

A dozen or so hours later, the suspect was already in the hands of the police. The Legnica resident was arrested and placed in police custody.

The evidence gathered by the police enabled the prosecutor to bring charges against the man. At the prosecutor’s and police officers’ request, the court ordered the preventive measure of temporary detention for a period of three months.
