At the main branch at 28/29 Zgorzelecka Street, from 16 to 18 August, free activities will be held under the shared title “Museum Fun with History in the Background”. During this time, in the workshop rooms of the museum building (ground floor), visitors will be able to take part in workshops on building the most notable historic landmarks of Bolesławiec out of blocks or make a commemorative pin of their own design. Admission to the activities will be free.
Moreover, in the park adjacent to the museum, on 17 and 18 August, the Syrokomla Knightly Company will take all spectators back in time. At the camp set up for the occasion, visitors will be able to mint coins, take part in an outdoor game, try on a knight’s armour, and even participate in a duel with safe swords or test their skill at axe throwing. At the camp forge, visitors will be able to admire the art of blacksmithing and learn the secrets of making podpłomyki, while a charismatic executioner will oversee everything. Admission to the camp will be free.
From 16 August, the Pückler Palace will offer visitors newly opened exhibitions as well as permanent exhibitions and temporary exhibitions prepared specially for the Bolesławiec Ceramics Festival. The first of them presents ceramic works by young people submitted to the nationwide ceramics competition “Ceramic Decoration Inspired by Bolesławiec Stamped Ceramics”, organised by the local General and Vocational Schools Complex in Bolesławiec. Admission to the post-competition exhibition (the museum foyer) will be free.
The Museum of Ceramics has also joined preparations for a jubilee exhibition presenting the impressive artistic achievements of the International Ceramics and Sculpture Symposium in Bolesławiec, which is being held in Bolesławiec for the 60th time. The gallery presents 34 works by outstanding artists, who took part in the symposiums, from their Lower Silesian editions, through national editions, to international ones. The sculptures on display were created between 1979 and 2016.
On Saturday evening, 17 August at 7:00 p.m. the opening of the exhibition “Contemporary Design in Bolesławiec Ceramics and the 15th Anniversary of the Bolesławiec Ceramic Brotherhood” will be held. It will present products from several dozen local workshops. This is a unique opportunity to become familiar with current stoneware collections. Admission to the museum exhibitions during the Bolesławiec Ceramics Festival will be charged according to the applicable price list, while admission to the opening will be free.
At the Centre of Old Pottery Techniques at 14 Kutuzowa Street, from 16 to 18 August, “Around Ceramics” workshops will be held. As part of the workshops, clay enthusiasts will be able to create stamped decorations and make objects from clay. After firing, all ceramic souvenirs will be sent to their owners. The workshops are paid and advance registration is required, while admission to the museum section of the CDTG during the Bolesławiec Ceramics Festival will be free for all visitors.
