We would like to reassure you right away that no one clipped the swans’ feathers. The birds are currently moulting and losing their feathers. By autumn, the swans will grow new feathers and have beautiful, snow-white plumage.

We contacted Mieczysław Żuraw from the Klekusiowo Centre, which also cares for animals at the municipal pond in Bolesławiec. He confirmed that the swans are currently moulting and that no one clipped the birds’ feathers.

Moulting is a natural process in swans and occurs every year. It usually lasts from 6 to 8 weeks. This process takes place to replace worn feathers with new ones, which is essential for maintaining their ability to fly and their overall health.

During this period, swans temporarily lose their ability to fly, which is why they often choose places where they are less exposed to attacks by predators. They adjust their behaviour by limiting their activity and looking for quieter places to rest.

We remind you that you can watch the swans at the municipal pond in Bolesławiec via the online camera (tab: municipal pond).
