On the social media profile of Szymon Pogoda, the Law and Justice MP from Bolesławiec, the following post appeared today:

“Progressive and tolerant” France ceremoniously opened the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris – during the ceremony (spelling as in the original – ed. istotne.pl) the leftists parodied the Last Supper, which shows the true face of this entire milieu! Tolerance? Yes, but only for them!
S. Pogoda on the opening of the Olympic Games

Interestingly, this was not the only post concerning the Paris event, as journalist and writer Tomasz Piątek noticed on X.

Politicians such as Mateusz Morawiecki and Janusz Kowalski also commented on the matter in a tone similar to S. Pogoda’s. The latter even declared that “France no longer exists.”

Interestingly, the event was also criticized, among others, by the French Bishops’ Conference, which described the Games’ opening ceremony as “ridiculing Christianity.” As we read on rmf24.pl:

The media in France (...) said that it was unclear which scenes of the ceremony the criticism referred to, but they also expressed the supposition that the scene involving drag queens, which may have alluded to Leonardo da Vinci’s painting “The Last Supper,” was considered offensive.

The newspaper “Sud-Ouest” reports that several drag queens appeared in the scene presented as part of the section of the ceremony titled “Celebration,” and that the whole scene “brought The Last Supper to mind.”

The organizers of the Olympic Games’ opening ceremony said that the scene was not a reference to “The Last Supper,” but to a feast of Dionysus.
