We are making an urgent appeal for financial support for the istotne.pl editorial team. As independent journalists, we boldly take on difficult and uncomfortable topics, exposing hypocrisy and abuse among representatives of the Catholic Church. Our work is not only journalism—it is a fight for truth, justice and transparency, which are often lacking in Polish society.

In December 2023, we published a film documenting the disturbing story of one of the priests and a young boy. Unfortunately, since its publication, we have become the target of four lawsuits. These lawsuits are an attempt to silence us, shut us up and hinder our work. The Church and its representatives will stop at nothing to protect their interests, and we need your support to continue our mission.

We will use the funds raised to provide legal defence for our journalists and to continue working on materials that expose wrongdoing and abuse in the Catholic Church. Every złoty is enormously important—it enables us to stand up to powerful opponents and continue our independent journalism.

We believe that together we can fight for justice and truth. We believe that with your support we will be able to repel attacks and continue pursuing our mission. Please help us in this fight—a fight for a better, more transparent society.

Priests who follow their vocation trust us

Several priests from the Diocese of Legnica viewed our December film positively. Two of them trusted us enough to contact us. They are full of passion and believe in what they preach. We conducted lengthy interviews with them.

The information they gave us is shocking. Both speak about one of the priests of the Diocese of Legnica, whom they call a sexual predator.

Below is an excerpt from an interview that we will publish next week in a longer piece entitled “What do priests do when they take off their cassocks?”

We covered the priest’s face and altered his voice because he fears revenge from the sexual predator, who has contacts in the bishop’s curia.

Once again, we ask for your support for our work and help with our legal defence.

The premiere of the film “What do priests do when they take off their cassocks?” will be next Monday, a week from now.
