A concerned and at the same time upset reader contacted the istotne.pl editorial office. The man claims that surveyors have appeared in the forest near Piastów Street in Bolesławiec and are taking measurements.

The man fears that some work may be carried out there which could ruin the local nature and the recreational area. The reader claims that, as far as he understands, paved bicycle trails are to be created there and concrete may perhaps also be poured.

We asked the Spokesperson for the Bolesławiec City Office, Agnieszka Gergont, for comment on the matter.

Here is the comment:

Work is currently underway on the preparation of the design and cost-estimate documentation for the Lower Silesian Bicycle Skills Park in Bolesławiec. The scope of the work is to include development of the area at Piastów Street in order to create a publicly accessible bicycle complex for improving mountain-biking skills.

The main purpose of the Bicycle Skills Park is to enable riders to learn and improve their riding technique and enhance the safety of cyclists training there. The plans are to include 24 terrain obstacles located along the trails. The courses are to be designed so that they fit into the existing landscape as much as possible, including the existing terrain and trees. When laying them out, the key consideration is to minimize interference with the existing landscape and limit earthworks involving the grading of the existing ground surface as much as possible.

The plans are also to include small-scale architectural features, such as benches, bicycle racks, litter bins, information boards and information posts; a bicycle shelter with a frame structure and bicycle hangers; and a table with benches.

The company responsible for preparing the design and cost-estimate documentation for the Lower Silesian Bicycle Skills Park in Bolesławiec is Doktor Architekci from Wrocław.
