The District Prosecutor in Jelenia Góra filed with the Regional Court in Jelenia Góra a motion to discontinue the investigation and impose on the suspect Patrycjusz T. a preventive measure consisting of placement in a psychiatric hospital.
The incidents occurred in the early morning of October 29, 2023, in Jelenia Góra, on Lwówecka Street. – The prosecutor conducting the investigation established that at around 2:30 a.m., Patrycjusz T. began jumping on cars parked on Lwówecka Street, damaging five of them. He then threatened the owners of the vehicles with death while holding a knife – reports Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska, spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra.
She adds: – At around 3:00 a.m., the perpetrator entered his grandmother Stefania T.’s apartment, located on the ground floor, and attacked her with a knife, inflicting numerous blows to various parts of her body, including her head. This caused extensive injuries, leading to exsanguination and brain damage, which resulted in her death. The investigation also established that he injured Daria R. with a knife, causing a cut wound to the skin of her face and cheek. These injuries impaired the functioning of her bodily organs for more than seven days.
Initially, the perpetrator was held in pre-trial detention. However, due to his health condition, he was placed in a psychiatric hospital. Prosecutor E. Węglarowicz-Makowska:
An assessment by a team of psychiatrists and a psychologist found that Patrycjusz T. is mentally ill. At the time he allegedly committed the acts, he was completely incapable of recognizing their significance or controlling his conduct.
The experts also indicated that, due to his mental health condition, there is a high probability that he will again commit an act posing a high degree of social harm, including an offense against life or health.
Therefore, in the motion filed, the prosecutor requested that a preventive measure be imposed on Patrycjusz T. in the form of placement in a closed psychiatric hospital.
