On June 7, while taking a walk near the former “Łajba” with my three-year-old son to celebrate his birthday, I bought him some grain from a vending machine. He was feeding ducks and pigeons right by the barriers at the water. At that time, I was about 2 metres away from him, taking his picture, while three other girls right next to me were also feeding the pigeons. At that moment, I saw a man aged approximately 35–40 running along the pavement, holding a large German Shepherd on a leash.

As the man approached us, he did not slow down even for a moment, nor did he go around us and the girls to the side, where he had plenty of room. He ran straight between me and my little son and, hitting my son directly with his leg while running, knocked him over. My son hit his head hard on the granite paving. After a moment, he had a lump with bruising covering half of his head, badly scraped his arm in two places, and bruised both knees, which were also covered in bruises.

The man did not stop or even apologize, despite the fact that I shouted at him. I am also appalled by the indifference of the people who were walking around and sitting on the benches at the time—there were quite a few of them—and no one helped me. I picked up my son and ran to Marceli ice-cream shop on Sierpnia Street to ask for some ice cubes so I could quickly apply them to my son’s head.

I am writing to ask for help because a friend told me that she had supposedly seen a similar story recently on your portal, but I cannot find it. Perhaps someone described this situation and it may be possible to find witnesses and reach the person responsible?

I would like this story to serve as a warning to other parents that even in such a peaceful place, their children are not safe and they cannot step away from them, not even for a moment.

Update 3:30 p.m.

As the reader reports, after our publication and the sharing of a contact telephone number, the man described above called him. The two men are supposed to meet and clarify the entire matter. The reader expresses his thanks and adds that such quick contact demonstrates the strong power of istotne.pl as a portal to bring about action.
