A resident of a building on Gałczyńskiego Street called us and emphasized that she has a disability; her legs are affected, and she uses a wheelchair. The woman informed us that the lift in the aforementioned stairwell had started breaking down during the May holiday period and that at the beginning of May it had been out of service for 10 days.
The reader claims that she reported the matter to the Cooperative. She says she was told that she could ask her neighbours to carry her downstairs. The problem is that the woman lives on the ninth floor.
The informant told us that many senior citizens live in the entire block and that this is a very serious problem for them.
Beata Ślęzak, president of Bolesławianka Housing Cooperative:
On behalf of Bolesławianka Housing Cooperative, I inform you that the lift at 40A Gałczyńskiego Street has been in operation for 12 years.
The lift components that wear out most frequently are replaced periodically by the lift maintenance company as part of maintenance inspections, and the company keeps these components in stock. However, there are components whose failure is difficult to predict, and their delivery takes time.
She adds:
With reference to the numerous faults of the passenger lift at 40A Gałczyńskiego Street, I present the lift inspection report:
- 29 April 2024 – the mechanical cam assembly used to unlock (open) the landing doors and the cabin door drive motor with encoder were damaged through operation (the motor that opens and closes the doors also indirectly drives the mechanical cam assembly),
- 29 April 2024 – the worn components were ordered: cam + motor.
The complete set of materials was delivered on 10 May 2024, and the lift was put back into operation that same day.
A discount on the maintenance fee was granted for the period during which the lift was out of service.
And she concludes:
From 10 May 2024 to 29 May 2024, individual faults related to the use of the new type of motor occurred. The failures that took place between 10 May 2024 and 29 May 2024 were repaired on an ongoing basis, and the lift was restarted within 60 minutes of being reported. In order to maintain continuity of operation, a new cabin door drive controller was ordered, with delivery scheduled for 29 May 2024. The controller was replaced on 31 May 2024. The most recent actions, connected with replacing the controller, should eliminate the faulty operation of the passenger lift at 40A Gałczyńskiego Street.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience related to the lift being out of service.
