On Thursday, 9 May, the person managing ROD Serbinowo on Lubańska Street in Bolesławiec reported to the police that someone had abandoned a Škoda with Bolesławiec registration plates near the allotments. The police did not help. Apparently, the car had an owner, was insured and had been left in a place that was not a car park. The car, stripped of its catalytic converter and looted—the reader used the word “gutted”—remained there until an article appeared on our pages Allotment holders appeal to the owner to take the car away. On the day the article was published, the car was removed.

We asked the police officers what steps they had taken. Below is the response dated 15 May 2024:

In response to your inquiry concerning the abandoned vehicle near ROD Serbinowo, I inform you that the caretaker of the aforementioned allotments notified us that the car had been removed from the indicated location.

I would like to point out that during the incident in question, officers of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec took action within the scope of their powers and the applicable legal regulations. Moreover, during the aforementioned intervention, the police did not limit themselves to establishing the facts concerning the abandoned vehicle. Bearing the safety of allotment holders in mind, they also inspected the area around the “Serbinowo” Family Allotment Gardens, as a result of which they arrested a man in possession of narcotics.
