On Friday, November 26, a ceremony was held to mark the 50th anniversary of Primary School No. 5 in Bolesławiec. The school’s origins date back to 1960, when Primary School No. 6 was established on Dolne Młyny Street.

The ceremony was prepared under the watchful eye of coordinator – Teresa Hryńczak. Among those attending were the school’s alumnus and President of Bolesławiec Piotr Roman, head of the Social Affairs Department of the Municipal Office Krystyna Boratyńska, Rev. Andrzej Gidziński, former teachers and school staff, as well as the first graduates.

The anniversary celebrations began with Holy Mass, held in the church on Orzeszkowej Street. The service was concelebrated, among others, by two alumni of today’s Primary School No. 5: Rev. Stefan Dombaj and Tomasz Kwasik.

The next part of the school’s anniversary celebrations was a commemorative ceremony. The first to speak was the school’s headteacher, Ewa Sokolińska. The film presenting the history of the primary school moved everyone gathered in the Primary School No. 5 gymnasium. An exhibition of photographs from various periods in the school’s history also attracted considerable interest.

The ceremony was enhanced by performances by the school’s pupils.
