A ban on alcohol sales at filling stations would require amendments to the regulations. The Ministry of Health is already preparing a bill that is to be submitted to the Sejm in the coming months.
Izabela Leszczyna told Radio Zet:
– I believe that alcohol should not be sold at a filling station at all. I will try to convince my colleagues in the government of this. The costs of treating people who abuse alcohol burden all taxpayers – stresses the head of the Ministry of Health.
The ban on alcohol sales at filling stations has received a positive response from organizations involved in road safety. For filling station owners, however, such a ban would mean a significant reduction in revenue. Consumers are divided, although a clear majority of those surveyed view the ban positively.
