Ladies and Gentlemen,
My name is Paweł Skiersinis – I am running for the Nowogrodziec Municipal Council from District No. 11.
I live in Nowogrodziec, in the housing estate near Asnyka Street. For several years, I have been professionally associated with the Social Insurance Institution. I am a control inspector and work mainly in the field. I am a graduate of the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics at the University of Wrocław, where I studied Administration.
I am running for the Municipal Council because I believe that residents should have a real influence on their city. Local government is created by its residents, and they are its main pillar.
My programme concerns areas such as social issues, infrastructure and safety.
My priority is BETTER ACCESS TO A DOCTOR – currently, our SPZOZ faces a major problem in this area: there are not enough doctors, and medical positions are not fully staffed. This issue needs to be addressed so that each of us can register with a doctor without difficulty.
Another point is the REVITALISATION OF PLAYGROUNDS – especially the one on Kolejowa Street, as it is the most popular with our children. This playground needs to be modernised.
The SKATE PARK also requires modernisation – making it more modern and innovative so that it attracts children and young people.
REORGANISATION OF THE MUNICIPAL POLICE – this is also a very important point of my programme. At present, this service is not fully effective and does not perform all of its duties completely. It should not be abolished, because the municipal police, as a local-government unit, reports directly to the mayor, and the municipality has an influence on how it operates. It should be expanded to meet our needs so that it can take care of our safety.
GREATER ACTIVITY AT “MUZA” – it is a wonderful facility, and residents want cultural events to be held more often, throughout the year. “Muza” could also host various talks or, for example, lectures in cooperation with the University of the Third Age.
We need to ensure GREATER TOURISM PROMOTION OF THE MUNICIPALITY – we have few historic sites (the observation tower, the parish church, St Nicholas’ Church, the monastery and the milestone). Greater promotion of these sites is needed, along with the promotion of accommodation and service facilities in our municipality.
REORGANISATION OF GCKIS – so that this municipal institution can operate even more effectively and residents can enjoy the many cultural events available in their town.
ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE – this is the foundation of every city. Roads and pavements require repairs, as well as construction, particularly in places where they are still lacking.
I believe that changes should take place in many areas. Change is a natural process – change is not a revolution. Above all, the attitude of the local authorities must change. Much can be achieved and done even in a small town such as Nowogrodziec, because we have considerable potential. Many young people, full of passion and commitment, are running for the Municipal Council. I myself am passionate about regional history, including the history of our town.
My programme does not include major investments; these are real issues close to every resident—matters that need to be improved and refined.
The main idea behind local elections is choice – your choice of local authorities. I ask not only for your vote in the upcoming local elections, but above all for a chance for our community – a chance for positive change.
