We wrote about plans to sell the school in Godzieszów in an article published on 16 February The mayor wants to sell the former school to a Catholic foundation. The discount could be 99%. On Sunday, 18 February, just two days after publication, a pre-election miracle occurred and the priest withdrew from the hypothetically lucrative purchase of the former school building. We do not know what is more surprising: that the priest works for the Foundation on Sundays, or that he reads istotne.pl and took the wishes of the residents of Godzieszów to heart?

According to information we received from Andrzej Drąg, deputy mayor of Nowogrodziec, adoption of the resolution on selling the school building was only supposed to initiate the procedures for the municipality to dispose of it. The procedures also indicate that the mayor would have publicly announced his intention to sell the property belonging to the municipality of Nowogrodziec. Andrzej Drąg’s response follows.

In response to the request for access to public information concerning the valuation report for the developed property geodetically designated as plot no. 451/1 in the Godzieszów precinct, I kindly inform you that the procedure for selling the property begins after the competent municipal council has approved its disposal. The council’s approval allows the sales procedure to be initiated, including:

  • preparation of the property valuation
  • preparation and public announcement of a list of properties intended for sale; the list is displayed for 21 days at the headquarters of the competent office, and information about its display is also made public through an announcement in the local press and in the office’s Public Information Bulletin
  • within six weeks of the date on which the list is displayed, persons entitled to priority in acquiring the property are required to submit the relevant application
  • after six weeks, a tender may be announced or the terms of sale may be agreed—in the case of a non-tender procedure, the agreement protocol sets out, among other things, the purchaser’s obligations and the conditions for repaying the discount
  • the final step is concluding the sale agreement in the form of a notarial deed.

I also inform you that the draft resolution concerning the sale of the property did not include the village community center.
