We have regularly reported on lighting problems in Bolesławiec. The issue returned during the January session of the Bolesławiec City Council. A question was asked as to whether all the faults had been repaired. (This was supposed to be done by the end of January.)

– The contractor has removed almost all the faults; they still have until midnight today, so they are removing them – Robert Rzepnicki, head of the Public Procurement and Municipal Investments Department at Bolesławiec City Hall, informed the councillors.Robert Rzepnicki, head of the Public Procurement and Municipal Investments Department at Bolesławiec City Hall.

But he immediately added: – We are hearing that the contractor may file for bankruptcy.

He added that, if this happens, the municipal authorities will activate what is known as the nuclear option, namely recovering the appropriate amounts from the contractor’s security.

– With a project of this scale, I do not even assume that everything is perfect. There are almost 4,000 locations – commented Mayor Piotr Roman. And he remarked sarcastically:

We hired additional companies that had to deal with certain things because it turned out that some employees of this company did not fully understand certain matters. That is how it is with tenders.

Department head R. Rzepnicki stressed that the City has a 10-year guarantee. He also addressed reports appearing online. – There are Tauron-related failures; the failure on the Kwiatowe housing estate two weeks ago was not our fault – he stated. He added that the same was true of the recent failure on Kościuszki Street. It was caused by strong winds.

Some of the faults, however, were related to the activities of... vandals/saboteurs. This was the case, among others, on Żurawia, Zgorzelecka and Garncarska streets.

We will return to this topic.
