In recent years, before the opening of the new police headquarters in Bolesławiec, all detainees had to be transported to neighboring counties. Many people wondered why officers had to waste time traveling to Lwówek Śląski or Zgorzelec—sometimes even two or three hours for a single trip. The problem was caused by the dreadful condition of the rooms for detainees at the Bolesławiec headquarters. Their condition was so poor that the Sanitary Inspectorate prohibited keeping anyone there.
After many years, we managed to film the rooms. The cells look like something out of a horror movie. The walls and ceilings were scratched and painted, sometimes with a brown substance that—one can guess—was what it was (the detainees did not have anything with them, after all).
The building has stood empty since April 2022. See in the photos and video what the “lockup” (that is, the rooms for detainees) and the ground floor of the headquarters, where male and female police officers worked, looked like.
