As we read on the “Perspektywy” website:
The Ranking is primarily addressed to students and their parents, who must make a very important decision concerning the choice of their further educational path. The “Perspektywy” ranking helps young people choose a general secondary school or technical secondary school that will lead them to higher education and make it easier to obtain their dream profession.
– For 26 years, we have been pleased to showcase schools worth attending – says Waldemar Siwiński, president of Perspektywy Press, creator of Polish educational rankings and head of the Ranking of General Secondary and Technical Schools. – And it is not only about the top fifteen best general secondary schools and the ten best technical schools, which we honor during the ranking gala. The tables we publish reveal much more: which school has maintained a high level for years, which is declining, and which is climbing ever higher. This year’s ranking includes traditional high achievers as well as a large group of entirely new leaders. We sincerely admire schools that have maintained a high level for years, but we are especially pleased when “newcomers” appear at the top of the ranking, because this proves that the persistent work of teachers and students produces wonderful results, and that there are still ambitious educators in Polish schools who are willing to work hard.
The Ranking’s rules were established by a Chapter composed of representatives of universities, the Committee for Education of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (KRASP), directors of regional examination boards (OKE), and representatives of the main committees of the Olympiads included in the ranking. The work of the Chapter was chaired by Prof. Ryszard Koziołek, rector of the University of Silesia in Katowice.
The creators of the ranking emphasize:
The Perspektywy Ranking of General Secondary and Technical Schools is based exclusively on objective and measurable data from external sources (the SIO database, data on matura examination results from OKE, and data from the main committees of subject Olympiads). The criteria for the 2024 Ranking of General Secondary Schools are: results in compulsory-subject matura exams (30%), results in additional-subject matura exams (45%), and achievements in Olympiads (25%). For another year, achievements in international Olympiads were included in this category. The criteria for the 2024 Ranking of Technical Schools are: school achievements in Olympiads (20%), results in compulsory-subject matura exams (20%), results in additional-subject matura exams (30%), and vocational examination results (30%).
