Red-light cameras have been operating in Bolesławiec since October 20 last year. There are four of them, monitoring vehicles crossing the intersection of Spółdzielcza, Chrobrego, Tysiąclecia and Asnyka streets.
Drivers are already receiving their first fines. One person shared with us a document received from the General Inspectorate of Road Transport. The photos show the moment the vehicle entered on a red light and the time that had elapsed since the signal changed. In this case, it was 1.34 seconds.
The vehicle owner is offered the option of identifying the driver. In that case, the person pays PLN 500. The vehicle owner may refuse to identify the driver; in that case, the owner receives a PLN 1,000 fine. In either case, the vehicle owner or the identified driver may refuse to accept the fine, in which case the matter is referred to court. In addition to the fine, 15 penalty points are assigned to the identified driver. The points limit is 24.
