Priests set out on house visits for money and information

During their annual house visits, priests not only collect offerings and update information in parish records. Their visits also have another side—they are a way of gaining valuable knowledge about female and male parishioners. Clergy gather information not only about a family’s spiritual and material situation, but also about its everyday life, which raises discussions about privacy and trust in parish communities.

It has become customary for people to give money when a priest visits. The amounts vary from PLN 10 to PLN 50.
