Magda MAGIC Piskorczyk is a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist very well known to blues fans in Bolesławiec. She has been nominated three times for the Fryderyk, the most prestigious award in Poland’s recording industry. She was a two-time semifinalist in the International Blues Challenge, the world’s most important blues competition, in Memphis, Tennessee, USA. She has been named Blues Vocalist of the Year nine times in the Blues Top poll organized by the “Twój Blues” quarterly. In France, she was called “la voix noire et au costume blanc” (the black voice in the white costume).
She sings with a mature, low, “black” voice and plays acoustic, electric and bass guitars, as well as percussion instruments. She mainly performs music rooted in African-American and African traditions. She arranges and composes music, regularly performs with her band and has appeared at numerous international festivals, including in Germany, England, Sweden, Norway, Hungary, France, the USA and Taiwan.

An album documenting the 20th anniversary of Magda MAGIC Piskorczyk’s artistic career. The album was released as a surprise for fans, without prior notice. As the Artist herself writes: “I dedicate this album to my absolutely most wonderful Female and Male Fans, without whom there would be no point in creating it, given such an open and wonderful reception of our music. My career began in Białystok at the Jesień z Bluesem festival, and that is why I wanted to celebrate my Jubilee only there. Not all of you could accompany me then, so I decided to make a recording of this one-of-a-kind concert especially with you in mind. I wrote this song at a time when a certain person was killed in our country. Out of hatred, because of political brawling. At that time, terrible things were happening not only in Poland, but one event can be “the last straw, overflowing the cup of bitterness and sadness”… That was the case for me too. Nevertheless, I sincerely believe that hatred and divisions can be overcome with love. And that is also what “Hatred Goes Around” is about.
