On November 28, 2023, Voivode Jarosław Obremski and Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman signed a letter of intent concerning the establishment and operation of a Local Passport Office. In it, the parties express their willingness for a Local Passport Office to operate in Bolesławiec as part of the Passport Office and Customer Service Department of the Civil Affairs and Foreigners Division of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Office in Wrocław.

Under the agreement, the city undertakes, among other things, to provide suitable premises free of charge, administrative and office support, equip the rooms with the necessary workstation equipment, cover all costs related to operating the Local Passport Office, ensure appropriate security measures for storing passport documents and passport records, as well as for access to IT databases, provide transportation of passport records to the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Office Delegation in Jelenia Góra, and collect and transport passports.

The Voivode undertakes, among other things, to provide workstation equipment supplied by the Ministry of the Interior and Administration’s Personalization Centre, ensure staffing consisting of two people, each employed for one-quarter of a full-time position, and provide informational materials.

The Local Passport Office is expected to open in March 2024. The office will be located in the Bolesławiec City Hall building.

– This is very good news for residents of Bolesławiec and nearby towns, because residents of the county will certainly also use the passport office. Nearly nine years of efforts to establish this office have produced a positive result. I hope that the first passports will already be issued in Bolesławiec in March – says Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman.
