On Wednesday (13 October), the quarter-final matches of the Regional Polish Cup were played. BKS Bobrzanie played away against Sparta Zebrzydowa (a regional-league team). The Bolesławiec team continues to struggle with finishing. In the opening minutes, BKS played very chaotically. The way they took set pieces was particularly poor (badly taken corners).
In the 15th minute, Mateusz Nowakowski shot wide of the hosts’ goal. A minute later, Paweł Wilk shot wide at Marek Przykłota’s goal. In the 19th minute, the same player forced the BKS goalkeeper to parry the ball for a corner. In the 25th minute, BKS created its most dangerous scoring opportunity. After a corner, Błażej Rajchel rose highest to the ball, but it flew just over the crossbar. Moments later, Adam Klimas produced a fine first-time shot. Unfortunately, he missed by a narrow margin. In the 40th minute, the referee awarded BKS a penalty. The referee decided that Sławomir Szewc had stopped the ball with his hand. Sparta’s players did not agree with that interpretation. The referee, however, remained adamant. Łukasz Filipiakstepped up and confidently beat the home goalkeeper.
BKS played better in the second half than in the first. The visitors repeatedly threatened the hosts’ goal. What was missing was a clinical finish. In the 50th minute, Łukasz Filipiak shot at Sparta’s goal. The goalkeeper turned the ball behind for a corner. Three minutes later, Kamil Mielnik took a shot. The goalkeeper from Zebrzydowa parried the ball outside the penalty area. In the 77th minute, Paweł Wilk once again tried to surprise the BKS goalkeeper. Marek Przykłota confidently caught his headed effort. The score did not change for the remainder of the match. BKS defeated Sparta Zebrzydowa 1:0 and advanced to the semi-finals of the Regional Polish Cup.
