The incident occurred on Tuesday, November 21, at approximately 8:20 a.m. on the outskirts of Lubań. The bus driver, who was traveling toward Leśna, collided with a freight train. Fortunately, there were no passengers in the bus, and no one was injured.
According to eluban.pl:
Freight trains on this line are subject to a speed limit of 20 km/h, so it is impossible that the driver did not see the freight train approaching the crossing. Nevertheless, he decided to drive in front of the oncoming locomotive rather than wait at the crossing for the train to pass toward Leśna.
It adds: – We unofficially learned that there is a witness who saw the driver talking on a mobile phone at the moment of the collision.
Both participants in the incident were sober. The incident was classified as a collision. The bus driver lost his license for three months. The case will be decided in court.
