Working in another city can pay off. Or perhaps remote work?
Bolesławiec and Jelenia Góra are about an hour’s drive apart. That is quite a lot when considering daily commutes from one city to the other. Nevertheless, sometimes it is worth taking a job even with a company located much farther away and accepting such commutes.
Different towns near Bolesławiec may offer genuinely attractive jobs — higher earnings or better career-development prospects. In the age of widespread remote work, it is also worth looking for hybrid-work opportunities. Travelling to the office two or three days a week already seems less burdensome.
The most comfortable option is fully remote work, with an occasional visit to a company in Jelenia Góra, for example once a quarter. Such employment models are entirely realistic today for many specialists and can easily be found, for instance, on the job-listing website — GoWork.pl. We explain who may be encouraged by the prospect of employment in Jelenia Góra in the coming year, 2024.
Who will find many job offers in Jelenia Góra, but fewer in Bolesławiec?
The results of the 2024 “Barometr Zawodów” survey show certain differences in demand for workers in Bolesławiec and Jelenia Góra. In the latter city, shortages are forecast in several occupations that are much easier to fill in Bolesławiec. There are therefore people who should seriously consider entering the job market in Jelenia Góra, because more job offers await them there.
Who are we talking about? The largest group consists of skilled technical workers with specific specialisations. They will find employment in companies in the general construction, industrial or automotive sectors. A severe shortage of manual workers with vocational or trade-school education, or with experience, is a problem not only in Jelenia Góra.
The lack of such workers can be seen throughout the country and has been evident for a long time. However, compared with 2023, the labour shortages expected in 2024 are somewhat smaller. The following will nevertheless remain in a particularly good position when looking for work in Jelenia Góra:
- automotive body repairers and painters,
- carpenters and construction joiners,
- electricians, electromechanics technicians and electrical fitters,
- motor-vehicle mechanics,
- mechanics and assemblers of machinery and equipment,
- building-installation fitters,
- bricklayers and plasterers,
- construction finishing workers,
- fitters.
Less competition on the job market in Jelenia Góra — who will benefit?
These are precisely the skilled workers who will face somewhat greater competition in the Bolesławiec job market than in Jelenia Góra. Due to the city’s tourist character, many listings here also concern independent cooks. The hospitality industry continues to welcome experienced workers.
Jelenia Góra is also looking for caregivers for the elderly or people with disabilities, administration specialists and IT technicians. Of course, these people can also find employment in Bolesławiec, but it may take considerably longer and result in worse working conditions being negotiated than in Jelenia Góra.
Where employers have greater difficulty finding suitable candidates, they naturally offer better pay or other benefits. That is why the people mentioned should consider moving to the neighbouring city’s job market. Administration specialists may also look for remote or hybrid work.
