Nataniel Głowacki is from Gromadka and is 12 months old. He was born prematurely and has several illnesses. His parents are raising funds for treatment and rehabilitation, as well as the purchase of rehabilitation equipment.

This is how they describe Nataniel’s story:

We are the parents of our long-awaited boy. During the prenatal examinations, our whole world collapsed. It turned out that our child had enlarged ventricles and an absent corpus callosum.

It sounds complicated, and it is. Nataniel was born too early, before the 30th week of pregnancy! Everything happened so suddenly and unexpectedly. A caesarean section was necessary…

We were not given the chance to see him, hold him or touch his little hand. He was immediately intubated and taken to the neonatal intensive care unit.

The world seemed to come to a complete standstill then. Many times, as we walked along the hospital corridor to the doctor’s office, we felt faint and our hearts stopped… We were always afraid of what we might hear there…

After three months, he finally left the hospital and saw his home. Then an even greater fear took hold of us! Our son has bronchopulmonary dysplasia, which increases the risk of sleep apnoea! Then epilepsy appeared, with as many as 11 seizures a day!

Almost constantly, we asked ourselves the same question: why does our little boy have to be ill?! Nataniel is only a few months old, yet he has already needed three blood transfusions, suffered pneumonia and a bacterial infection…

We thought things could not get any worse! Yet our world collapsed even further and completely fell apart… At the end of April, we received the final blow…

The doctors said words we will remember forever: our child suffers from a genetic defect of the right hemisphere of the brain, which is currently practically non-functional!

Even the doctors do not know what his future may look like… But doing nothing is not an option! We have started rehabilitation. Only very intensive exercises with qualified specialists will give him a chance to improve his development, which is currently under a major question mark.
