During Wednesday’s meeting of the Bolesławiec City Council, one opposition councillor asked whether building a platform on the pond for PLN 700,000 was necessary.

As a municipal official explained, this was the result of a decision by the heritage conservator, who forced the Bolesławiec Municipal Commune to dismantle the iconic Łajba. Since the municipal authorities did not want to leave pillars that would look “like stumps,” they decided to build a viewing platform there. This would also refer to the platform that operated there in the second half of the 1980s.

Let us recall that on 18 October we reported on the dismantling of the iconic structure.

At the end of the August meeting of the Bolesławiec City Council, local government officials spoke about planned investments. Kazimierz Łomotowski, head of the Municipal Housing Management Facility, mentioned, among other things, that Łajba would be demolished and that... a viewing platform would be built in its place. (As emphasised during the August session, a similar structure had operated there earlier, in the second half of the 1980s).

Work on building the new viewing platform is scheduled to begin at the turn of November and December this year.
