Heidi Hassenmüller was born in Hamburg but lived in the Netherlands for many years. She studied journalism and literature. Her books are frequently recognized and awarded prizes. In 1990, “Goodnight, Sunshine” was named the best German-language novel for young people.

To date, she has published more than 20 books addressing issues of great importance to teenagers (first love, the illness of a loved one, anorexia, drug addiction). Many titles have been translated into Polish, Basque, French and Spanish. Many of them became bestsellers and won the hearts of millions of readers.

The writer will meet with the residents of Bolesławiec on Tuesday, 5 October, at Galeria Format (Municipal Public Library, Sądowa Street). The meeting begins at 9:00. The author will be accompanied by an interpreter, although questions asked directly—in English or German—will also be welcome.
