On Friday, September 15, the March of Living Memory of Polish Siberian Exiles took place. Participants walked through the city streets, carrying banners and commemorating tragic events.
The march ended at the monument erected in honour of those deported to Siberia at Bolesławiec Municipal Cemetery. A solemn ceremony and the laying of flowers took place there to pay tribute to the victims of the Soviet regime. During the commemorations, speeches emphasised the importance of memory for our national identity and the need to appreciate the efforts and sacrifices of those who survived those terrible times.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the local authorities, associations, students from Bolesławiec schools and residents of the county.
Remembering the victims of war and repression is extremely important so that we can understand the generations passing away and, above all, learn from them and strive to ensure a peaceful future.
