– Officers from the Legnica Municipal Police Headquarters established that a 27-year-old resident of Złotoryja County had set up fake fundraisers for charitable purposes – says Asp. Aleksandra Pieprzycka of the Press Section of the Lower Silesian Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.

She adds:

The story of the “angel”—as she was called by people who believed in her good heart and willingness to help others—began with the creation of a fake account on a social networking site and joining one of the local private groups.

The 27-year-old from a neighboring county pretended to be a nurse who provided free consultations to residents of Chojnów Municipality. Aspirant A. Pieprzycka: – The woman periodically posted messages in which she offered to look after children, walk dogs, help care for bedridden people, and assist in finding work, among other things.

In her posts, she emphasized that she was not doing it for money, but only wanted to show the world that people like her still existed—people who helped selflessly and offered hope for a better tomorrow.

The spokeswoman:

Then the 27-year-old set up several collections of goods and money, presenting four different stories. In each story, the person in need was a single mother with cancer and children. People who read the posts about the collections and the difficult financial situation of the sick mothers, wishing to support the supposed nurse’s charitable work, donated food, clothing, toys, hygiene and cleaning products, as well as money, gift cards, cosmetics and other items. When the women arranged to hand over these things, the “nurse” most often wrote that she could not collect the gifts personally and would send a male or female friend.

She also adds:

When one of the people involved in providing help realized that the account was fake and that the woman was operating under the guise of helping others, she reported the matter to the Legnica Municipal Police Headquarters. Officers from the Department for Combating Economic Crime very quickly identified and arrested the 27-year-old, who had been deceiving kind-hearted people. The woman had previously been recorded for involvement in criminal activities, as several years ago she was charged with 43 counts of online fraud. At that time, she offered hybrid nail polishes for sale that she did not actually possess. Yesterday, she was charged with three more counts of fraud.

Police officers emphasize that the case is developing, as it cannot be ruled out that the 27-year-old operated in other counties.
