The film “Venice” is a fascinating story about growing up and escaping into dreams, about the power of imagination and rebellion against the existing reality. This beautiful, poetic film was directed by Jan Jakub Kolski and is based on a story by Włodzimierz Odojewski. “Venice” is a complete and complementary statement. Everything is on the screen, and what someone finds there for themselves depends on the person engaging with it. It depends on the viewer’s imagination and sensitivity,” says the director.

The screenings of “Venice” inaugurate the ninth edition of New Horizons of Film Education. “Before we invite students to arthouse cinemas, we want their teachers to first experience the atmosphere of New Horizons screenings,” says Maciej Jakubczyk from the Education Department of the New Horizons Association. “This is the best way to convince educators to join our project. The Association decided to present “Venice” to teachers. This is not accidental. For our program, we look for films that have moved us, but also films that are not obvious choices. We do not want to rely on ‘school hits’ or on classics alone. “Venice” is an example of excellent, even magical cinema that has unfortunately remained niche.

Teachers who reserve a place at Kino Forum will receive a special film magazine prepared by Wydawnictwo Nowa Era in cooperation with the New Horizons Association. In addition to sample lesson plans devoted to “Venice,” the publication will feature interviews with directors, project ambassadors and teachers who have made film education one of the pillars of their teaching practice. The magazine, like the leaflets containing information about the New Horizons of Film Education project, can be collected during the screening.

The screening of “Venice” will take place on 22 September at 4:00 p.m. at Kino Forum. Teachers from Bolesławiec interested in the project are asked to confirm their participation in the meeting no later than the day before the first screening (that is, by 21 September) by calling: 58 721 48 00 or 801 881 010 (between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.). “Please remember that the number of places is limited and reservations are handled in the order in which they are received,” reminds Iwona Bojko, coordinator of the New Horizons program in Bolesławiec. “Venice” is a beautiful film. We invite you to Kino Forum to see for yourselves.
