On Thursday evening, Świętoszów’s Square of Soldiers of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade Fallen in Polish Military Contingents was filled with reflection and calm—the Ceremonial Retreat was held.

The celebrations of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade Day began at the Military Garrison Club in Świętoszów. On Thursday, August 3, precisely at 6:00 p.m., a concert by the Military Orchestra from Żagań began, recalling historical events of great importance both to the soldiers of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade and to all Poles.

The Solemn Mass at the Garrison Church of St. Florian was another element of the celebrations. In the presence of the honor company and the armored Brigade’s standard-bearer detail, parish priest Lieutenant Artur Janczarek welcomed everyone gathered, including former parish priests of the Świętoszów parish, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary.

The Mass was presided over by the Bishop of the Polish Armed Forces, Wiesław Lechowicz, who spoke about important values such as respect and remembrance of those thanks to whom we can live in a free and independent country. The Mass was also an excellent opportunity to present decorations, including to the Commander of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade, Brigadier General Grzegorz Barabieda.

After the service, those gathered went to the Square of Soldiers of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade Fallen in Polish Military Contingents to pay tribute to the defenders of the Polish state. Lieutenant Łukasz Kurowski and Corporal Hubert Kowalewski, who have passed away, were also remembered.

The Roll Call of Remembrance was then read out, concluding with a ceremonial volley in honor of the fallen soldiers.

After the Roll Call of Remembrance, delegations of soldiers and invited guests laid bouquets of flowers in front of the Świętoszów brigade’s commemorative plaque.

The ceremonies on the first day of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade Day celebrations concluded with a spectacular fireworks display.
