Another interesting issue was raised at Wednesday’s meeting of the Bolesławiec City Council. When the mayor Piotr Roman finished presenting a report on the most important actions taken between sessions, councillor Marian Kostecki asked the mayor about tenders. – A great many tenders are won by entrepreneurs from outside Bolesławiec – the councillor stated. He added that it would be good if income tax remained in the City of Ceramics.

– This is a subject that has been discussed for 30 years – Piotr Roman replied. He immediately stressed: – The provisions are very rigid. There is no possibility of introducing local preferences.

He also added:

We are all pleased when a local company wins. Of course, most of all when it is from Bolesławiec.

He noted that the municipal authorities are also pleased when a company from Bolesławiec County wins, for example one from Bolesławice, because it presumably employs people from Bolesławiec itself.

The mayor emphasised that no company from Bolesławiec could independently handle a task such as the construction of a new water park on Spacerowa Street.

On that occasion, the mayor mentioned that the problem lies elsewhere. There is a shortage of workers. The municipal government created a large economic activity zone with substantial tax breaks for businesses, and they are now bringing in workers from Africa and Asia. – A migration policy is needed – P. Roman added.
