– We began our journey on 18 August – says Damian Tomiak, head of the Youth Firefighting Team operating at the Volunteer Fire Service in Osiecznica. The young firefighters visited, among other places, Głębokie Lake and also toured the fire service headquarters in Międzyrzecz. – We were shown around the local station. It is very well equipped – Damian says. – The team had the opportunity to see how the Międzyrzecz firefighters prepare for interventions. We also saw the rooms where the uniformed officers rest, as well as the gym and kitchen. It turned out that the officers from Międzyrzecz have a billiard table and table football. We were impressed.

During the camp, the MDP members sunbathed, built sandcastles, played football, and went kayaking and boating on pedal boats and rowing boats. – On the way back, however, we went to Pniewy, where we visited the Międzyrzecki Fortified Region. It is the largest fortification of its kind in the whole of Europe – Damian points out. – We went underground to a depth of 30 m. The tour was very interesting.

– Trips of this kind have a positive effect on young people and develop their skills – Damian concludes. – The young people showed that they can already do a great deal, while also knowing how to have a wonderful time.

Damian Tomiak thanks everyone who contributed to organizing the trip: Andrzej Rogoziński, Igor Karpowicz, the “Budus” Jan Sawczak wholesale company, the “Adys” Andrzej Michałek Trade and Service Company, Piotr Kałużyński, Jan Kozak, Anna and Sebastian Stryczek, the Osiecznica Municipal Office, the parents of the MDP members, and all friends and supporters of this unit.

The MDP head also thanks the supervisors: Gosia, Artur and Przemek, who watched over the young firefighters’ safety, as well as OSP president Krzysztof Gortych and chief officer Mirosław Miazga for their commitment and help in organizing the camp.
