The march will begin at Plac na Rozdrożu in Warsaw at noon. Leaders of all opposition groups, various associations, institutions, social organisations and local governments have announced that they will take part.

There will also be well-known people, including actors and artists. Above all, however, the march will be attended by all those who have had enough of the political situation and the current authorities—the United Right government—and want to protest. The march will be an expression of citizens’ opposition to the actions of those in power.

Crowds are beginning to gather in the capital. A delegation from Bolesławiec is also there.

The march began with speeches by, among others, Donald Tusk, former President of the Republic of Poland Lech Wałęsa and Mayor of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski, who then led the march.

The procession set off from Aleje Ujazdowskie and will reach Castle Square.

According to the organisers, half a million people are taking part in the march. Onet’s estimates put the number at at least 300,000 people. Unofficial police data, meanwhile, states that between 100,000 and 150,000 people took part.

Donald Tusk on the march:

The first step towards casting off captivity is to be brave in order to be free. The first step towards victory is to recognise our own strength. We are here today so that all of Poland, all of Europe, the whole world—so that everyone—can see how strong we are!

In his speech at the end of the march, Tusk said:

I want to make a pledge before you. We are going into these elections to win and to repair the wrongs suffered by ordinary people. I pledge to you victory, accountability for wrongdoing, redress for human suffering and reconciliation among Poles.
