Here is how the firefighters from OSP Nowogrodziec described the course of the operation:
Holiday atmosphere, an unusual intervention.
Alarm! On Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 11:50 a.m., we were dispatched to a person trapped at the Kaolin Aggregate Mine. The exact location was unknown. After arriving at the scene and taking the necessary equipment, the rescuers began searching for the injured person. After running approximately 800 m, they made visual contact with the person who had reported the incident. They also found a person stuck in mud up to the knees, unable to get out. An attempt was made to pull the person out using a rope, and then using the firefighters’ strength, but neither was successful. Manual digging began, which produced results after approximately 10 minutes, and the person was safely freed without suffering any harm.
The Police were also at the scene. The operation lasted approximately one hour. Please treat this post as a warning.
After the successful intervention, there was also time for a commemorative photograph of the Sunny Patrol team from OSP Nowogrodziec.
