The incident occurred on April 16, at around 1:00 a.m. – Police were informed about a woman who had been attacked with a knife by a man in one of the apartments in Legnica – reports Commissioner Jagoda Ekiert, press officer of the Legnica KMP. Police officers immediately went to the scene.
Inside the building, in one of the rooms, officers found a woman lying on the floor who, despite resuscitation efforts, did not regain vital functions. The room also contained the woman's injured 14-year-old daughter, whom the perpetrator had stabbed several times. The teenager was taken to a hospital in Legnica.
Moreover, another injured woman was in the building; the perpetrator had wounded her in the arm.
The spokesperson: – At that time, other patrols were searching for the perpetrator. The man was detained near the building, in some bushes; he had a bloodstained knife on him.
She adds:
At the scene, officers, under the supervision of a prosecutor, carefully secured evidence that will make it possible to establish the exact circumstances of the incident. The man was detained and placed in police custody.
The 36-year-old, who had previously been convicted of robberies, bodily harm, theft and burglaries, was charged with murder, attempted murder and bodily harm. He will be tried for all these acts as a repeat offender. He faces up to life imprisonment.
