Children from Municipal Public Preschool No. 1 in Bolesławiec welcomed some unusual guests on April 13 and 14. The alpacas Alf and Cezar arrived at the preschool playground accompanied by their keeper – Ms Ola.

As the Bolesławiec municipal office reports:

The alpacas’ appearance immediately won the preschoolers’ affection, so the children had no trouble approaching, stroking or hugging them. There were countless impressions and experiences. Alpacas are extraordinary animals: very friendly, gentle and sociable, and eager for direct contact. Meetings with alpacas serve an educational purpose, supporting children emotionally, cognitively and socially while building self-confidence, responsibility and empathy.

And adds:

During the alpaca workshops, we discover the mysterious world of these animals and, at the same time, learn respect and empathy for living creatures. We learned that our guests are relatives of camels, and that carrots are as delicious to them as sweets are to us. We were able to stroke and hug them, as well as feed them alfalfa seeds. It turned out that alpacas are very gentle and eager to learn. They can play hide-and-seek and even thank people for treats.

The children learned about these animals’ habits, feeding methods and living conditions. They could also experience the alpacas’ gentle nature; some of them received a kiss. A walk, feeding the animals and a photo with the friendly guests will remain in their memories for a long time. At the end, the children received plaster figures depicting alpacas with their wool, which they could decorate as part of an art activity.
