Following a major renovation completed in 2008, Forum Cinema offers top-level services and a high level of projection comfort – since May 2010, also using digital and 3D technology. Recently, its programme has consisted almost entirely of premieres. Making the cinema more attractive is bringing in more audiences. However, not everyone can afford frequent cinema visits, although premiere tickets are definitely cheaper than at multiplexes in Legnica or Wrocław.

If we want to see the 3D premiere “Step Up” at Forum Cinema, we will pay 24 zlotys for a regular ticket. For the same film at a multiplex, the ticket will cost 26 zlotys on weekdays and 28 zlotys at the weekend. – When calculating ticket prices at Forum Cinema, we compared ourselves with single-screen cinemas, not multiplexes – says Iwona Bojko, deputy director for bookings and promotion at BOK-MCC. – And we have identical prices to those cinemas and much lower prices than multiplexes.

Despite film events at which films could be seen for one zloty or free of charge, people still say that admission to the cinema is too expensive for the average family. – Distributors decide ticket prices – explains Iwona Bojko. – The cinema is municipal, but the film print belongs to the distributor, who must be paid for it. We have no influence whatsoever on ticket prices for premieres or films in the current programme. However, we do a great deal to obtain funding for some screenings and film events, and this enables us to lower ticket prices.

Iwona Bojko also stresses that she knows the economic realities faced by residents of the county. That is why film education – one of Forum Cinema’s strengths – is inexpensive. In October, the third edition of New Horizons Film Education will begin – thanks to funding, a ticket for a screening costs 7 zlotys. Films at the Film Discussion Club can be seen for 5 zlotys. The Film Discussion Club programme often includes new films. – In addition, every summer we offer films for children at a truly attractive price. Last year, it was 10 films for 10 zlotys (the programme consisted of older films); this year, it is 5 films for 5 zlotys (with this year’s hits in the programme). For Children’s Day, we prepared free admission to new cartoons from the Se-Ma-For studio. We do as much as we can so that absolutely everyone can afford to go to the cinema – Bojko adds.

Information about the cinema programme, ticket prices and film events can be found on the websites of the cinema and BOK-MCC.
