Read the story of what happened yesterday evening and at night at the Klekusiowo Wild Animal Rehabilitation Centre in Tomaszów Bolesławiecki. The stork Kleks, who returned from his wintering grounds to Klekusiowo at the end of March and, unable to wait for his partner from last year, Kropeczka, paired up with a new one—Kora. Yesterday, Kropeczka appeared in Klekusiowo and... a fierce fight between the female storks over the nest began...
As we read on the Facebook profile of Klekusiowo:
Yesterday evening, the long-awaited KROPECZKA returned from her wintering grounds. We are very happy that she arrived safe and sound. She is a bit of a latecomer, so Kora had taken her place; late in the evening, she laid her third egg. Kropeczka fought Kora. Kropeczka made several attempts to take back the nest; meanwhile, Kleks watched the fights closely, guarding the eggs… after 1 a.m., Kropeczka finally took over the nest and wanted to take over the eggs, but Kleks would not let her…
It was a difficult night… Dawn revealed the sight of a bloodied Kropeczka standing on the nest. We wonder whose blood it is. Kora is missing; we are searching for her in the surrounding area, and it is not known what injuries she sustained. One egg was destroyed. Kleks still does not allow Kropeczka near the two remaining eggs… We are waiting to see how events unfold…
